Eddie has held whisky dear to his heart since working for a famous high street wine merchant, and has since felt the need to spread the word. His last job, before launching The Whisky Lounge, was as Brand Ambassador for Glenmorangie and Ardbeg.

In this previous incarnation, he organised and hosted tastings, masterclasses, dinners and other events for, and at, some of the top venues in the UK. These ranged from provincial gastro-pubs to the likes of The Balmoral, Albannach, The Connaught, The Ritz, Mosimann’s and Turnberry.

Eddie co-organised Glenmorangie’s presence at Whisky Live London in 2005 and 2006 as well as presenting a tasting at the 2006 show. On top of this he has filled the rather large boots of Dr. Bill Lumsden, Glenmorangie’s Master Distiller on several occasions, despite which the two remain good friends.

Since then Eddie has been busy with not only his own events, but also acting as a judge for the prestigious IWSC Spirit Challenge, alongside many of the great names of today’s industry. He was on the panel for the 2009 Whisky Magazine ‘Independent Bottlers Challenge’ too.

The York Whisky Festival has been Eddie’s baby for the last 7 years – he conceived the idea as a regional alternative to the larger, national events. He has already added Manchester and Newcastle to the ‘roster’ and plans are in the pipeline for further festivals...

Rather than taking an over-traditional, po-faced approach to the art of appreciation, Eddie prefers to encourage education through enjoyment …and a little entertainment. Eddie is convinced that, if he can’t turn you on to whisky, then no-one can.
