What We Do ( Whisky Tastings! )

…And why we do it.

The Whisky Lounge is a place in which EVERYONE is encouraged to develop and nurture their interest and passion in the ‘Water of Life’. Through our events and activities, our aim is always to entertain, educate and continuously delight all of those involved. We are about breaking down barriers, myths and legends whilst promoting the understanding that whisky is a historical and iconic product of almost alchemic origins.

Our mission statement is to ‘turn everyone on to whisky’

We specialise in hosting our own Whisky Tastings, Festivals and Schools which have become extremely popular but we can also host your private party, corporate clients, product launch or practically anything else where you think we can help. Please get in touch if you would like us to quote your event.

Testimonials

It doesn’t matter what we say so please take a look at what our customers and festival exhibitors say about us…

“Really informative and enjoyable. Excellent venue and food. Relaxed atmosphere, allowed plenty of questions and increased my whisky knowledge hugely. Great value too. Thanks a lot!”

Jonathan Smith (Newcastle Whisky School, September 2012)

“There are many people out there who profess to know a lot about whisky, and have clearly chosen this subject as their ‘flavour of the month’. And then there are people who genuinely, passionately live, breathe, eat and sleep whisky, and these are the people who are truly worth listening to, and who will genuinely teach you something about this fantastic subject that you didn’t already know. Eddie Ludlow is undoubtedly in this latter category.”

Dr. Bill Lumsden, Head of Distilling & Whisky Creation, Glenmorangie

“For a real amateur this was exactly what I’d hoped for. Enthusiastically delivered by a connoisseur who has a great passion and guided us through the world of whisky in great detail. Eddie made this a very personal course and the chance to blend my own whisky really added to the whole experience. A fantastic day”

Pete Foster (Newcastle Whisky School, September 2012)

I’ve never failed to be impressed by the enthusiasm, commitment and sheer passion that he shows towards whisky. Whisky drinkers around the world would be much worse off without the likes of Eddie championing their cause’

Graham Eunson, Distillery Manager, Tomatin

‘Eddie Ludlow’s passion for and knowledge of malt whisky place him in an elite group of trusted ambassadors for Scotland’s liquid gold. With his infectious enthusiasm and genial demeanor, Eddie is one of the very best educators you will find.’

Doug McIvor – Spirits Manager, Berry Bros. & Rudd Ltd.

Whisky Fact #01

Spirit destined to be whisky is not allowed to be called whisky until it is at least 3 years old. Until then it is referred to as ‘new-make’ spirit.
