Whisky Trips

We run special trips to distilleries or specific regions of interest for those who would like to go direct to source…

This could be a dream trip to Islay or Speyside or perhaps, one day, even further afield! Wherever we go, we endeavour to get you access to the ‘back-stage tour’ – the one where you get to meet the band, the one where you get to taste the really good stuff…

So far we have had several successful trips to Islay. Customers have been delighted with the standard of the trips. One chap chose our trip to ask for his wife’s hand in marriage!

WHAT VISITORS SAY

Finlaggan, the stoic farmhouse and designated Whisky Lounge base, is framed handsomely by the landscape, offering a cosy interlude from the outside world while enveloping guests in the very essence of the island. In our case, that meant a generous seafood feast accompanied – with surprisingly fluency – by a dram of Auld Reekie from Duncan Taylor.

A group of twelve, the first evening of the trip was filled with happy conversation and introductions to each other’s choice of unusual whiskies, transported carefully with the rest of the luggage. Highlights included two Scotch Malt Whisky Society single cask bottlings: 24 year-old Braes of Glenlivet, and a 28 year-old Girvan grain.

A couple of us confessed, on the minibus down to Laphroaig, that after 5 distilleries in little more than 36 hours there was a danger that we might have reached saturation point. How wrong we were! Our Laphroaig tour proved to be an absolute highlight of the trip, thanks in no small part to our tour guide, David, who showed us round with a quiet, laid-back, but incredibly thoughtful talk.

Speaking for myself. I was exhausted and exilerated, finally having a few minutes to take stock of everything we had done, all the incredible people we had met and all the whisky we had savoured together. A final word to Eddie and the Whisky Lounge crew – what a fantastic trip you organised and thank you for all the work you put into making it so special.
